Close-quarters situation

Article Abstract:

A large sailing passenger vessel decides to cruise near off shore for an exercise. A container vessel heading south heads for a course which is 0.02 nautical miles from the cruising vessel does not answer via VHF, AIS and DSC for alerts. The passenger vessel had to take evasive action when the distance was less than 7 nautical miles.

Santos pirates break into container ships

Article Abstract:

Hooded pirates are said to be breaking into port of Santos container ships in Brazil. The pirates sneak into the ships before dawn and steal goods. Several of these incidents have been reported since November 2007, harming the port's reputation in the international maritime community.

Erratic encounter

Article Abstract:

A large cargo vessel gets into a near collision with another ship bound for a harbour on an unspecified island. The cargo vessel had to turn drastically to portside to avoid the collision while the other ship maintained their course even with radio warnings.
