King grit hangs on

Article Abstract:

Open grit blasting is still the most common method used by ship repair yards in preparing ship surfaces for coating because of the high productivity the method achieves at low costs. An informal survey of shiprepair yards showed that the method will continue to exist alongside more modern techniques of surface preparation. However, open grit blasting has its disadvantages such as noise and dust and rising grit and disposal costs. Alternative methods that are used by ship repair yards for surface preparation include UHP water blasting and dust free bottom blasting.
