Thailand's Tipco takes Tasco II

Article Abstract:

The oil tanker Tasco II, designed and manufactured by BV Scheepswerf en Machinefabriek de Biesbosch-Dordrecht, Netherlands, has been purchased by Thailand's Tipco Asphalt Public Co. Ltd. The tanker was designed to carry molten bitumen and related products with temperatures reaching 250 degrees centigrade. It has a total cargo capacity of 4,371 cubic meters and is equipped with two slop tanks mounted on metal blocks which allow for thermal expansion. The ship also features the McGregor hydraulic remote control cargo valves for cargo loading and unloading.

Tankers target US market

Article Abstract:

Bermuda-based London and Overseas Freighters PLC recently took delivery of the second of three new oil tankers from Japan's Mitusi Engineering and Shipbuilding Company Ltd. Both the London Glory and the London Pride are single-screw, 149,686 dwt Suzemax tankers which are specifically designed for the US market. The two tankers meet the latest US environmental and OPA 90 regulations and they are reportedly the most cost-effective vessels of their type in service today.

Cassette carriers streamline paper transport

Article Abstract:

The Puerto Real shipyard of Astilleros Espanoles has finished the first of three cassette carriers that would be used to ferry paper products from Sweden to the Netherlands and the UK. These vessels can run with just a crew of six and they are on charter to SCA Transforest which has specifically demanded that the ships be able to load and unload paper cargo faster with minimal wastage. Their owner is Gorthon Lines.
