Article Abstract:

Motivation plays an increasing role in management, particularly where more is required with less resources. For managers, motivation influences the achievement of a goal, and they must create work environments that motivate their employees to perform well. Research shows that doing worthwhile jobs and learning new skills are more motivating than working conditions and wages. Managers should introduce specific initiatives and recognise the worth of their employees.
