The Millennium Exhibition will promote the UK via multi-media. It is expected to attract 11 million visitors and bring millions of pounds sterling into the economy. The Millennium Dome will be the largest of its type of structure in the world and will contain exhibits of fashion, art, industry, business and the British media. The celebrations will give the opportunity to record thoughts and concerns of the public which will be collected using up-to-date technology for future generations.

Government paves way for Millennium parties

Article Abstract:

A team has been assembled to organise the Millennium Experience, with a budget of 750 million pounds sterling, including Minister without Portfolio, Peter Mandelson, Sir Cameron Mackintosh, a West End producer, and Marck McCormack, a sports promoter. Others with non-paid positions on the board include Michael Grade of First Leisure. Attractions could include a multi-media exhibition on the future. Some 76 million pounds sterling has been set aside for projects outside of London.

Millennium project asks for help

The Centre for the Visual Arts in Cardiff, Wales, which cost 9 million pounds sterling to open, could be forced to close because of an inadequate number of visitors in 2000.
