Steve Wiener

Article Abstract:

Steve Wiener, an American, is chief executive of Cine UK, which opened its first cinema in July 1996 in Stevenage, UK, and will open two more in the UK in 1996, with a total of 20 planned by 2000. The 12, 14 or 16-screen Cine UK cinemas will have large entrances, big corridors to screens and a lot of leg room between seats. Wiener, who was educated at Miami University, went to work for ABC Florida State Theatres in 1970, and stayed with the company, through two acquisitions, until 1991 when he joined Warner Bros., and set up Cine UK in 1995.

Article Abstract:

A number of different seating systems have been installed at large leisure facilities in the UK recently. At the new Nynex Arena in Manchester, Audience Systems supplied its Espace 628 Model, which features an articulating back which needs no springs or counterweights. At Sheffield University, the ACO Terracing System was used, while Pel Stadium has supplied and installed 50,000 seats for the East and West stands at Twickenham.

Everyone for tennis

Article Abstract:

The new Welsh National Tennis Centre, located at Ocean Park in Cardiff, aims to encourage people to play tennis throughout the year. It features six indoor and seven outdoor courts, all of which will be available on a pay and play basis. The development also includes a health and fitness club, the headquarters of the Welsh Lawn Tennis Association and a Welsh National Gymnastics Centre of Excellence.
