Just one wish for Christmas

Article Abstract:

The slump in trade in the UK hospitality and leisure sectors following the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease and the terrorist attacks of Sep 11, 2001, has given firms the opportunity to review their marketing strategies and to plan for the future. A key challenge in 2002 will be addressing the serious skills shortage in these sectors.

Cooking up trouble for careers in hospitality

The United Kingdom hospitality industry offers many Modern Apprenticeships, but under funding proposals put forward in 2001 it will receive less than other practical courses. This will have a major impact on the industry at a time when chefs are in short supply.
