Article Abstract:

Some speakers at the Leisure Property in Europe forum discussed the difficulty of aiming a product at a particular market due to sociological changes, such as couples marrying later in life. The increasing importance of branding was emphasized. Many of the operators attending the forum confirmed they were planning to extend their operations into Europe, due to the economic conditions in the UK and the highly competitive market. Others pointed out popular ideas in the UK and US did not always suit the European markets. The forum was held in Barcelona, Spain, during Sept 1998.

Club scene

Article Abstract:

Fitness clubs are most likely to achieve high client retention levels if they offer a good balance of equipment, design and staff. Some have found Cardio Theater, which can play a range of audio visual components, the best way of meeting all client tastes in entertainment. It is also important to ensure a friendly atmosphere, not allowing sophisticated machinery to take over from staff interaction with clients.
