Treasuring the memories

Article Abstract:

The Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), Museums of Health and Medicine, London, England and Royalty and Empire museum, Windsor, England have developed themed exhibitions to enhance their tourism potential. The V&A has emphasised the connection between tea and artistic achievement through treasure trails in its 'Tea and Treasure' exhibition. The medical museums have collaborated in the production of a guide brochure. The Royalty and Empire exhibitionn features the necessities for a royal trip abroad as part of the 40th anniversary celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II's accession.

Eastbourne means business

Article Abstract:

A tourism initiative aims to rejuvenate the middle-aged image of Eastbourne, England. Resort Prosperity Initiative hopes to attract younger clientele to the town. The scheme was prompted by a tourism survey in 1990. Council, business and community collaboration aims to increase tourism through holidays, short breaks and school visits. Leisure and sports facilities are being developed and promoted. Local businesses have contributed 35,000 pounds sterling to the scheme and the English Tourist Board has contributed 75,000 pounds.

Industrious marketing

Article Abstract:

The English Tourist Board will promote industrial leisure attractions in 1993. The campaign entitled 'Experience the Making of Britain' intends to revive interest in Britain's industrial heritage. Publicity material will be distributed through tourst boards and information centres detailing exhibitions and factory visits. Industrial anniversaries will be celebrated. Project manager Helen Beioley aims to fund the campaign through business sponsorship.
