Talking the initiative

Article Abstract:

The main focus of the 1996 ISRM conference on sport was to improve the quality of sport within the United Kingdom following the poor results attained at the Olympic games in 1996. Many of the speakers were concerned that sport should be introduced to children at an early age not only to increase their skills but to interest potential young offenders by showing them alternative ways of using their time. Investment in sport was also discussed with the emphasis on a nationwide plan for the development of new facilities.
