Marks of distinction

Article Abstract:

Distinctive business names are important in helping to distinguish services and goods from those offered by competitors. Legal protection of such names is through trade and service mark law. In England, the most popular avenue is to register the names with the Registrar of Trade Marks. It is not legally necessary to register a name in order to protect it, however. It is suggested that chosen business names should be as distinctive or unusual as possible, and that purely descriptive names be avoided, as should proper names.

Nouvelle cuisine

Article Abstract:

A former nurse tells how she cured her severe atopic eczema by eliminating certain foods from her diet. Her eczema, which began when she was 57, was not helped by the use of prescribed steroid creams. Following the development of a stomach bug and not eating for four days, she found that the eczema was completely cleared. Over the following months she followed an elimination diet and has a list of around 18 foods she can eat without a severe allergic reaction.
