Break-up break down

Article Abstract:

When molecules are subjected to energetic radiation, it is ionized and fragmented. The reductionist approach is useful in particle physics and studying the structure of atoms, molecules and nuclei. If a molecule is absorbing energy, bonds can be broken and ions can be formed allowing neutral and charged constituents to react with neighboring molecules.

Give a shell a break

Article Abstract:

Giant conches are one of the nature's greatest engineering masterpieces, which are an intricate hierarchical architecture of inorganic crystals, interwoven with organic molecules. Xiao-Wei Su and his colleagues have performed some experiments to monitor as to how the animals repaired their shell tissue.
