Dichromatism in macaque monkeys

Article Abstract:

Research on 3,153 macque monkeys identified only three dichromats, a frequently that is much lower than in humans. This research involved studying DNA from 744 male and 1,301 female crab-eating monkeys and 455 males and 653 females from 18 other macaque species. The three DNA samples from males lacking the exon-5 fragments of the long wavelength gene were from groups of crab-eating monkeys whose blood was sampled in the Pangandaran National Park, Indonesia.

Gordon Lish, an editor, may have had a crucial hand in developing Raymond Carver's short stories. Carver's early stories are heavily altered by Lish, and Carver incorporated the changes in the final manuscript. Literary theorists, though, see this type of writer / editor relationship as normal.
