Fighting a reporting battle

Article Abstract:

The aspiring science journalists in the developing world, who are often untrained in science and journalism, lack support and resources, and face challenges that would keep many of their counterparts in the West from even trying. The World Federation of Science Journalists, in an effort to improve the conditions of these journalists would be launching a peer-to-peer training program that would match 60 journalists in Africa and Middle East with one of 16 experienced journalists, either in the same region or in the West, acting as mentors for two years.

Defence deficit

Article Abstract:

A public debate about turning nuclear submarines into cruise-missile carriers would be more robust if Britain took the US approach, where the US Congressional Research Service (CRS) is a relatively minor component. The differences between the Ministry of Defense and British academia are very wide due to the over-secretive culture of the civil service and hence it should take the help of external experts to evaluate the threats.
