Genetic sleuths rush to identify anthrax strains in mail attacks

Article Abstract:

Officials responsible for investigating the anthrax attacks in the US hope that new analytical procedures will provide information about the origins of the anthrax spores. It is believed that the laboratory of geneticist Paul Keim, who works at Northern Arizona University, has already made progress in identifying the strains of the Bacillus anthracis used in the attacks.

Texas facilities count cost of tropical storm

Article Abstract:

Flooding caused by tropical storm Allison has led to extensive damage at research facilities in Houston, TX. The research facilities at Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston were particularly badly affected.
