Hierarchial patterns of covariance between morphological and behavioural traits

Article Abstract:

The association between body size-adjusted gonopodium length and reliance on forced insemination in the poeciliid fish was investigated to determine the applicability of hierarchical levels of covariation in behavioral research. Several genera of the Poeciliini and Gambusiini species were used to examine whether the association is present in hierarchial levels. Results indicate that hierarchical patterns of covariance can be used in microevolutionary studies.

Behavioural responses of juvenile barbel in an artificial channel: distribution and velocity use

Article Abstract:

Research describing the behaviour of juvenile barbel exposed to differing water depth and discharge parameters is presented. The ecological significance of the results is discussed with respect to growth, feeding and recruitment.

Experience and social environment influence the ability of young brown trout to forage on live novel prey

Article Abstract:

The development of feeding behaviour in anadromous brown trout is studied and their ability to modify feeding behaviour when confronted with a novelty prey is investigated.
