Mighty Mouse

Article Abstract:

Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute in Cambridge, UK with a capacity to house thousands of mouse lines has an ambition to become the world's largest warehouse for knockout mice in which individual genes are selectively deleted or knocked out from the genome. Some researchers have expressed doubt whether this way of creating and characterizing large knockout mouse lines is the most efficient way to obtain useful information about how the genome works.
