NASA panel draws up 'road map' to hunt Earth-like planets in space

Article Abstract:

NASA is drawing up a comprehensive project to conduct space explorations aimed at detecting Earth-like planets and life spanning over a ten-year period. This decision is hailed as a significant move on the part of NASA. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory is already charting a search map known as Exploration of Neighboring Planetary Systems. Other plans include setting up a large infrared interferometer in deep space and developing a new-generation four-meter space telescope.

Space Shuttle launch holds key to asteroid mission

Article Abstract:

US space researchers may succeed in launching an asteroid probe in 1999 if they gain funding from Congress and assistance from the National Aeronautics and space Administration (NASA) Space Shuttle. The Clementine 2 project will be able to continue after one-and-a-half years of temporary suspension if NASA agrees to participate in the project by launching the project's spacecraft. Around 45 million US dollars is needed from Congress to complete the project.

US willing to pay for Russia's help in space

Article Abstract:

The 2000 Iran Nonproliferation Act (INA) prevents the US space agency from directly purchasing Russian goods or services including astronaut rides on the Soyuz vehicle or the cargo deliveries on the Progress Capsule.
