Raising the relevance to outside needs

Article Abstract:

Museum directors realise that museum research cannot remain an end in itself and should be increasingly aimed at answering questions of contemporary relevance, particularly about the environment and biodiversity. There is a new focus on multidisciplinary research, and the future of natural history museums will rely on strategic alliances with other organizations, which will increase the reach and widen the impact.

Unpaved Alaska: outside the state, few have heard of Wrangell-St. Elias

Article Abstract:

Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve is the largest, at 13.2 million acres, and one of the newest national parks in the U.S. The park is situated along the southern coast of Alaska and encompasses nine of the 16 highest peaks in the U.S., including Mount St. Elias, at 18,008 feet. Aside from its impressive geography, Wrangell-St. Elias is home to some of the most spectacular wildlife in the world.

NRA claims friends it doesn't have

Article Abstract:

The NRA complains about bad publicity and lack of strong public and corporate support. NRA also needs help in seeking a political voice before the 1992 elections. The steps made by the group to offset these problems are discussed.
