Recent subsidence of the northern Suez canal

Article Abstract:

A study shows subsidence of the northeastern Nil delta in Egypt, relative to the sea during the recent Holocene eopch. Sediments were dated using accelerator mass spectrometric (AMS) analys, and water depth was estimated from fauna analysis. The ongoing faulting, along with downwarping of the underlying Late Miocene to Quaternary sequences are the main reasons for the subsidence of the delta region.

Recent advances in the central control of intake in ruminants

Article Abstract:

Neuropeptide Y is a neurotransmitter within the paraventicular nucleus of the hypothalamus which stimulates feed intake in sheep and in rodents. Studies of the ingestive behavior of rats with exogenous administration of neuropeptide Y show stimulation of feeding and drinking, withselective preference for carbohydrates, but no effect on their grooming behavior.

Advances in aggregation

Article Abstract:

Researchers have shown a new approach to the 80-year-old Smoluchowski theory of how atoms and molecules collide and diffuse to form droplets and clusters. The new calculations are able to predict the growth of thin films on a surface.
