Fuhgeddaboutit: talking like a New Yorker is not the same as talking like a Noo Yawker

Article Abstract:

Elisions of the English language which results in the typical accent of New Yorkers are examined. Foreign writers must be careful in transcribing these sounds, or the results will not be authentic. A brief discussion of the term 'experienced with,' used as jargon in drug news reporting, is discussed.
