Response to interspecific vocalizations is affected by degree of phylogenetic relatedness in Streptopelia doves

Article Abstract:

A new study of Streptopelia doves seeks to discover whether individuals exhibit greater response to signals from closely related species than from phylogenetically distant ones.

Perceptual relevance of species-specific differences in acoustic signal structure in Streptopelia doves

Article Abstract:

Research into the perceptual relevance of species-specific differences in temporal structure and amplitude modulation structure for the dove species Streptopelia decaocto and Streptopelia chinensis is presented. It was found that temporal structure is an element that sympatric turtle-doves will probably use for species discrimination in nature.

Repeated decrease in vocal repertoire size in Streptopelia doves

Article Abstract:

The acoustic differentiation between coo types that was the ancestral state is examined. It was shown with the help of results that the common ancestor of Streptopelia had differentiated coos rather than a single coo type.
