Article Abstract:

The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has issued a bulletin on Risk Assessment, outlining proposed changes to the way the government conducts the scientific studies that quantify the risks to human health, safety and the environment, to attain a standard of risk assessment across the government. Environmental and consumer groups charge that its real aim is to weaken the Environmental protection Agency (EPA) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA), thus moving regulations in industry's favor without the knowledge of the public.

The Product Red is the private sector's campaign to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. AIDS activists and officials want the private sector's expertise in logistics and financial management as the campaign rolls out across the United States and the rest of the world.

Silicon down to the wire

Jack Kilby, a Texas instruments engineer has invented the integrated circuit in 1958 due to which he won the noble prize in physics for it in 2000. Details on the various changes taken place in the semiconductor industry after this invention are discussed.
