Tropical drug rescue strategy and skin protection based on the role of Mc1r in UV-induced tanning

Article Abstract:

PAM211 keratinocytes were exposed to ultraviolet light (UV) in vitro and culture supernatants were incubated with B16 melanoma cells to test for induction of the microphthalmia transcription factor, [MITF.sup.11] factor and to examine whether a non-cell-autonomous pathway may mediate the UV pigmentation effect. Results reveal that UV potently induces expression of melanocyte simulating hormone in keratinocytes, but fails to stimulated pigmentation in the absence of functional MC1R in red/blonde-haired mice.

Characterizing the cancer genome in lung adenocarcinoma

Article Abstract:

A new approach for the characterization of copy-number alterations of the cancer genome in lung adenocarcinoma is discussed. The autosomal chromosome arms in the lung are found to exhibit consistent large-scale copy-number gain and loss.
