Transport news

Article Abstract:

Conduction in silicon is conventionally enhanced by doping that is adding impurities that change the material's electronic structure. For silicon, an exceptionally low density of interface traps is achieved by an interface with an insulating layer of silicon oxide and this interplay between doping and interface states is a fundamental aspect of device physics, and becomes even more important when small structures are involved.

Silicon twists

Article Abstract:

Researchers have presented the demonstration of the transport and coherent manipulation of electron spin in silicon. They have observed a change in current with magnetization that provides direct evidence for the injection and transport of spin-polarized electrons in silicon by using spin valve.

Electronic measurement and control of spin transport in silicon

Article Abstract:

The article describes a conduction-band spin transport across 10 [micro]m undoped Si in a device that operates by spin-dependent ballistic hot-electron filtering through ferromagnetic thin films for both spin injection and spin detection.
