Grainger's new site will provide reps with added customer information

W.W. Grainger Inc's proposed business-to-business Web site will provide service representatives with more information on customer's contact and purchasing history. The OrderZone.com site, which will be launched in May 1999, will immediately display purchases and contacts availed by customers to Grainger and its five site partners that include Cintas Corp., Corporate Express Inc. and Marshall Industries. A call center in Vernon Hills, IL, will provide customer service to the site, which is currently being tested with 25 to 30 customers.

Mid-sized firms boost employee verification service

The Work Number, a division of St Louis, MO-based Talx Corp, has launched its new strategy of offering its employee verification service to businesses with less than 10,000 workers. The Work Number has a database which can be accessed through an interactive voice response unit or the Web by mortgage companies, cooperative boards and other organizations that are seeking to verify salary information.
