Belgian mailers turn to private carrier services

Article Abstract:

Belgian Mailhouse NV, a division of the Copenhagen-based Scandinavian Distribution and Postal Service (SDPS), has seen growth in the Belgian market for mail delivery service. Company marketing and sales manager Michael Cuypers reports that his firm has doubled its Belgian business in 1997. The growth marks pan-European trends among mailers towards greater use of private couriers at the expense of national postal authorities. Private carrier companies reportedly post cheaper rates, making it more affordable for direct mailers, and also offer a more stringent guarantee, especially overseas.

New logo for TNT as Dutch restructure postal services

Article Abstract:

TNT, the Netherlands-based express courier service, has launched a new corporate logo in April 1998, as part of the company's reorganization. The new corporate logo, which aims to present a more unified face to TNT customers, shows TNT written in orange against a white background. Along with the new logo are several services, such as TNT Express Worldwide, Mailfast and InterPost, that were brought together under one umbrella. As part of the restructuring, TNT divided KPN, the privatized holding company for the mail and telephone services, into two units, KPN Telecom and TPG.
