Cladding & curtain walling
Article Abstract:
Cladding procurement is an essential component of a construction contract and success can depend on whether it is undertaken correctly. The views of an engineer, a cladding specialist and an architect on the successful letting of cladding contracts are outlined. The pros and cons of the recently introduced curtain wall standard are discussed, plus an overview of overcladding research being carried out by the Building Research Establishment. Factors which should influence specifiers when choosing wet or dry overcladding systems are presented and a 300-year-old cladding technique is described.
