Article Abstract:
A scrutiny of the language used in two proposed amendments to existing laws affecting the roofing industry highlight the importance of skilled writing in drafting a proposed law that would elicit favorable results. Legal drafting is technical writing and requires both legal and technical knowledge. One proposed bill was obviously written by someone who possessed legal skills but lacked an understanding of the roofing business and its technology. The second bill was obviously written by someone without a sound grasp of law.
