E-centives CEO: CoolSavings using legal moves for market advantage
Article Abstract:
Bethesda, MD-based E-centives Inc has accused rival CoolSavings Inc of Chicago, IL, of using patent infringement suits to gain an unfair competitive advantage in the Internet-based electronic coupon market. Both firms generate income by enabling Internet World Wide Web retailers make targeted product offers to their registered membership bases. The bone of contention in the legal dispute are two patents, one of which was awarded to CoolSavings and gives it the right to a system for issuing electronic certificates via online networks.
