It is now time for a change of focus, according to Amec Chief Executive Peter Mason. He indicates that the group will now focus its activities in the US on profitable work for key industrial clients, moving away from high-rise developments. In the UK, he believes that telecommunications and utilities offer significant potential, while work for the rail industry has only limited prospects. He states that Amec aims to purchase the balance of French electrical engineering and building contractor Spie.
