Paymentech highlights fraud prevention
Article Abstract:
Paymentech, a Dallas, TX-based credit card processor, will tell attendees at the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) convention in fall 1998 about how direct marketers have detected internal fraud using its tools and services. Direct marketers such as mail order houses are vulnerable to credit card fraud because many of their customers prefer to pay through their credit cards. For example, West Marine, a Watsonville, CA-based boating supplies cataloger, discovered a case of internal fraud perpetrated by two of its employees by using a database installed by Paymentech.
