QVC ties the knot with wedding site

QVC Inc., the West Chester, PA-based television shopping network, will invest $15 million in TheKnot.com, a Web site offering wedding items and gifts. The investment, QVC's first in another Internet firm, will make QVC the biggest minority stakeholder in TheKnot.com. The agreement also calls for QVC to provide distribution services and backend operations for TheKnot.com's gift registry. In return, QVC will have the opportunity to sell its products on the site.

Accrue CEO sees firm in two-horse race

Accrue Software Inc of Fremont, CA, has announced its plan to acquire NewVista Software Inc of Cupertino, CA, for $140 million in stock. Accrue makes software that records what consumers do at Web sites by collecting "clickstreams" while NeoVista makes predictive models to forecast consumer behavior. The acquisition is expected to put Accrue Software at level with rival E.piphany Inc in the personalization technology market.
