Servite's senior service
Article Abstract:
Increased longevity has resulted in the need for more sheltered accomodation for the elderly in the UK. Frail housing has been developed by the charity Servite Houses designed by the architects Phippen Randall and Parkes. It provides housing for the over 70-year olds who wish to maintain indpendence. Servite has developed housing based on clusters of 6 to 10 people who share a living room and dining room and have their own bedsitting room partly furnished with their own possessions. It caters for decreasing mobility and capability. There is a 24-hour manager who lives off-site.
