A mall learns to recycle
Article Abstract:
A New York mall has become a model for effective recycling at large multiuse facilities which include business offices, restaurants and retail stores. It has initiated a program which consisted of both recycling or reuse and waste minimization elements. Office paper, corrugated cardboard, commingled food and beverage containers are recycled and then marketed through county and city contracts.

Building human resources instead of landfills
Article Abstract:
A recycling program managed by the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Lane County, Oregon, diverts more than 40 tons of waste materials per day away from landfills, converting the materials into marketable products such as chairs and tables from reclaimed wood. The program also provides job training for low-income workers.
