Using yard trimmings compost as fertilizer on vegetable crops
Article Abstract:
The experiment conducted at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station to examine leaf compost as a nutrient source for field production of butternut squash is presented. Further, the objective was to determine whether leaf compost could be used as a substitute for inorganic fertilizer in butternut squash production.

Low rates of compost increase vegetable yields
Article Abstract:
Effects of different compost rates on harvest amounts, specifically organic matter content and pH values are calculated. In three-year trials with vegetables like beets and carrots, yields from leaf compost applied annually at rates as low as 10 T/A are higher compare to unamended controls.

Reducing fertilizer requirements in cut flower production
Article Abstract:
Research on cut-flower crop yields indicates that organic fertilizer can be efficiently replaced by leaf compost. Studies were conducted on cosmos, black-eyed Susan, zinnia, and snapdragon crops; statistical data on fertilizer/compost trials are included.
