Article Abstract:

'The Wine Spectator' sponsors an awards program for restaurants with notable wine lists. This year, 369 new restaurants around the world were added. The emergent trend was that restaurants are offering wines that are next to impossible to find at retail outlets. A directory of winners is included.

A comprehensive guide listing 3772 wine-friendly restaurants in the year 2006 that have won Restaurant Awards is presented. Details are provided of the requisites for the Awards, which are given on three levels, namely the Grand Award, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Award of Excellence.
