Market capitalization rebounds in 2003

The publicly-held vendors in the juvenile home furnishings business stage a slight comeback in terms of market capitalization and the collective 13 companies which appear to reflect a slight return of confidence on the part of investors. The 2003 were at least not a repeat of the two previous years and 2004 promises some good hope for them.

Rent-Way revenues up 1.8%

Erie, Pennsylvania based Rent-Way reported a 1.8% revenue increase in its fourth quarter, contributing to a 2.5% growth in revenues for the year. Revenues in the quarter ended September 30 came to $121 million, compared with $118.9 million in the 2004-earlier period. The relevant statistical data is presented.

Feb. economic indicators mixed from Jan.; most better than last year

The February economic indicators affecting furniture industry in 2004 produced positive results. Although furniture factory employment suffered a setback, sales of existing homes in February were 6.12 million, up 2% compared with January and 5.7% over February 2003 results.
