An interview with subcomandante insurgente Marcos, spokesperson and military commander of the Zapatista National Liberation Army (EZLN)
Article Abstract:
Zapatista National Liberation Army (EZLN) leader Subcomandante Marcos believes that the cause of the indigenous people in Chiapas, Mexico, is a righteous one. Noting that the rights of Mexico's indigenous peoples have long been disregarded, Marcos voices support for a just, free and democratic system that allows for continuing evaluation of the government's work. Under the system proposed by the EZLN, people could reward or punish those who govern, recognizing good governance while repudiating bad policies. Marcos also speaks on the San Andres Accords and the referendum on March 21, 1999.

Peace conferences and the century of total war: the 1899 Hague Conference and what came after
Article Abstract:
The Hague Peace Conference of 1899 was prompted by the Russian Tsar's proposals for general measures of disarmament and pacification. The Conference paved the way for a new era in international relations from a multilateral perspective. This move became successful despite the overwhelming suspicion over the progress of disarmament during the time of the Conference's establishment. This Conference led to the establishment of the International Court of Justice and the League of Nations, a precursor for the establishment of the United Nations.
