An alternative to the not-ready-for the-year-2000 court system
Article Abstract:
ADR provides an effective means to settle disputes regarding the year 2000 (Y2K) computer problem. ADR negotiators who are proficient in technology will provide more predictable results than a jury trial. ADR can better preserve business relationships between vendors and customers. Confidentiality will be maintained. ADR is more efficient than litigation. A wide variety of claims related to the Y2K problem can be filed, including claims for failure to abide by contracts, negligence, and misrepresentation.

Beyond dispute: a comment on ADR and human-rights adjudication
Article Abstract:
Alternative dispute resolution is an appropriate means to resolve human rights disputes. Victims of discrimination and harassment often do not wish to undergo a trial's publicity. Mediation may not punish violators as severely as adjudication, but solutions can be found that serve the complainant' interest. Human rights cases often are defined by unique circumstances and individual feelings that can be served best by a mediator's flexibility rather than a uniform code of law.
