Article Abstract:
The Wyoming Highway Patrol, the Albuquerque Police Department, and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) issued statements regarding press relations. The Wyoming Highway Patrol allowed police officers to speak to journalists at accident sites. The Albuquerque Police Department issued a document stating it supports news coverage but that journalists must abide by necessary restrictions. The NTSB issued a report advocating restricted press access to information regarding airplane accidents, including passenger lists and access to family members.

Gore Commission releases digital TV report; diverse group disagrees over public interest obligations for broadcasters
Article Abstract:
The Advisory Committee on Public Interest Obligations of Digital Television Broadcasters, called the Gore Commission, submitted 10 guidelines on Dec. 18, 1998. If the guidelines are approved, digital television broadcasters will have to observe them in exchange for the larger portion of the broadcast spectrum that Congress has allocated them. The recommendations include the adoption of minimum public interest requirements by the FCC.
