Science fiction and myth creation in our age
Article Abstract:
Science fiction functions as a form of myth creation in contemporary life and myth has a gnoseological function for archaic societies, as it creates a whole world-picture by complementing accumulated empirical knowledge with analogies drawn from familiar experience. Combining cognition and science fiction, it can be stated that world-models are similar to myths and the scientific knowledge at the level of popular consciousness also works in the similar way.
