Article Abstract:
Recent events portraying the detoratoring events in East Timor testify to the importance of strong leadership in Indonesia. Analogies with the Balkan situtation is explored. Economic tension surrounds all aspects of Indonesia, whose economic decline is so bad it has not been seen during peacetime conditions anywhere in the world for the last 50 years.
