Why are insurers dropping Medicare HMO?
Article Abstract:
A growing number of US insurance companies are eliminating Medicare health maintenance organization coverage in their policies, especially in areas with smaller number of enrollees and lower government payment rates. According to the Health Care Financing Administration, over 90 insurers will cease their HMO programs in 329 counties. Insurers also blame the massive pullout of HMO programs to the increasing competition in the industry.
