Increased stock purchasing of Macmahon Holdings in Nov 1998 prompted speculations that the company will be taken over. The stock rallied from 9 cents to a peak of 53 cents on turnover of 16 mil shares in two weeks. After these speculations calmed, the trade resumed at around 48-50 cents.
