Electronic books are available through the Rocket eBook and the Softbook, which resemble notebook computers. The reader connects to an on-line bookstore and pays to download the text into the electronic book's memory. Publishers predict on-line libraries will give away hardware and charge readers for access to their material, similar to the way mobile phones are marketed.
