Does gambling lead to increased crime?
Article Abstract:
Some people believe gambling brings on an increase in street crime and organized crime, while others think casinos are being blamed unfairly for surges in crime rates. Opponents of casino gambling point to Atlantic City as an example of how crime increased with the coming of the casinos. Proponents of legalized gambling counter that crime rates had increased throughout the state of New Jersey, not just in Atlantic City. They prefer to use the example of Las Vegas, which they say is safer than many other US cities.

Will the North American Free Trade Agreement lead to job losses in the U.S. auto industry?
Article Abstract:
There is concern over the possible effect of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) on auto workers. Some sectors, specifically those who claim to represent the interests of automobile manufacturing workers, believe that this treaty would put American workers at a disadvantage since companies would opt to hire Mexican workers who accept smaller wages. Others believe that NAFTA would merely contribute to generate additional revenues for the industry.

Do higher speed limits lead to more traffic deaths?
Article Abstract:
The Republican plan to allow states to set their own speed limits has rekindled the debate over the relationship between speed limits and road deaths. Some point out that there is a correlation between higher speeds and higher death rates on the roads, and the numbers are convincing. Others, however, claim that the percentage of drivers involved in fatal accidents does not correlate with speed limit changes.
