United Parcel considers IPO worth up to $4.6B

United Parcel Service of America Inc (UPS) of Atlanta, GA, has announced its plan to sell a 9.1% stake in an initial public offering in Nov 1999. UPS said that the stock would be priced at $36 to $42 a share to raise as much as $4.6 billion, and would give UPS a market value of up to $50 billion. After the stock sale, UPS would have 1.2 billion shares outstanding, including the 109.4 million Class B shares to be sold to the public and the 1.09 billion Class A shares held by employees.

WR Grace & Co, a specialty chemicals company based in Boca Raton, FL, has performed anomalous accounting procedures to gain the trust of investors, according to a lawsuit filed by the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The suit claims that the former conglomerate manipulated revenue and earnings at its kidney dialysis subsidiary, National Medical Care, which it later sold to a German buyer. The suit also names as a defendant retired board chairman and CEO, Jean-Paul Bolduc.
