Magna in overdrive: no Canadian has profited from contracting out as much as Stronach

Article Abstract:

Magna International was deeply in debt in 1990, but Stronach turned the company around, profiting a great deal from outsourcing contracts with the major auto firms. Magna's revenues will hit $6 billion in 1996. Stronach is anti-union, but says employees are well paid and enjoy profit sharing.

Striking it rich: how Falconbridge CEO Frank Pickard engineered a $4-billion nickel bid

Article Abstract:

On Feb 9, 1996, Falconbridge Ltd offered $4 billion for the huge nickel deposit in Voisey Bay, Labrador, which is owned by Diamond Fields Resources Inc. Some analysts predict the mine could reap as much as $500 million per year in profits. Inco Ltd may also make a counter bid for the mine.
