An overview is provided of the American troops who are fighting the ground war against the Taliban in Afghanistan. The soldiers of the Army Rangers, the Green Berets, the Navy SEALs, Delta Force, and USAF Special Ops carry standard infantry weapons and use high-technology gear such as night-vision goggles and Global Positioning System devices.

An overview is provided of American reprisal for the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The reprisals began with missile and bomb strikes against the Taliban regime in Afghanistan in an attempt to get the fundamentalist Muslim group to give up Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, who was suspected of organizing the events of September 11.
